Coach \u00b7 the questions I get mostAnswers, plain and short
These are the things I get asked most — pricing, the advisors, your bank connection, and what I do (and don't do) with your data. Need something specific? Get in touch.
About Centiv
Where can I download Centiv?
Centiv is live on both the App Store (iPhone) and the Google Play Store (Android). Search for "Centiv" in either store, or open centiv.app/download for direct links to both. Freemium is free forever — no credit card required, no trial expiry.
What is Centiv?
Centiv is an AI financial advisor for everyday people. Six AI advisors (Coach, Sage, Ace, Warden, Sentry, Clerk) work in the background — answering money questions, watching subscriptions, tracking your debt and savings, and giving you a daily ¢Score so you always know where you stand. The principle behind every screen: live your life. Centiv supports your choices, never grades them.
What are the 6 AI advisors?
Coach gives you daily financial guidance and answers your money questions in plain language. Sage handles your budgets, goals, and long-term planning. Ace tracks your ¢Score and overall financial wellness across 6 dimensions. Warden watches your debt and interest drain and flags the urgent stuff first. Sentry handles subscription detection and bill monitoring — even the recurring charges you forgot about. Clerk does receipt scanning, returns, and tax tracking so warranties and deductions never slip through. All six run automatically in the background.
What is ¢Score?
¢Score is Centiv's real-time financial health score — a 0–100 number across 6 dimensions: cash flow, debt burden, savings rate, spending efficiency, income stability, and financial engagement. Ace monitors it daily and tells you exactly how to improve it.
Plans & billing
Is Centiv free?
Yes — Freemium is free forever and includes all 6 AI advisors (Coach, Sage, Ace, Warden, Sentry, Clerk), your ¢Score, subscriptions & receipts intelligence, and 1 connected bank account. No credit card required, no trial expiry.
What is the difference between Freemium and Premium?
Freemium is free forever on 1 connected bank account (you choose which one if your bank returns several). Premium unlocks unlimited accounts, the full ¢Score breakdown, Household Mode, investment tracking, daily insights, and long-press voice control with Coach. Premium + Household Mode adds shared spending with a partner. See the full comparison on the pricing page.
How does Centiv billing work — App Store vs Google Play vs Centiv Web?
Centiv runs on a dual-channel model. The mobile app uses in-app purchases (billed by the App Store on iOS and Google Play on Android, each at the store's prices). The website charges a lower price directly because it doesn't carry the store platform fee. It's the same Premium and the same data either way — only the billing rail changes. You can switch rails any time without losing access; a bridge mechanism prevents double billing during the switch.
Why is the in-app price higher than the web price?
Apple and Google charge a platform fee on in-app subscriptions (typically 15–30% of revenue). The in-app prices include that fee so the platform economics work; the web prices don't carry it. Centiv is the same product, the same Premium, and the same support either way — pick the rail you prefer.
How do I cancel my subscription?
If you subscribed in the mobile app: on iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Centiv → Cancel Subscription. On Android, open Google Play → tap your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Centiv → Cancel subscription. If you subscribed on centiv.app: open your billing console at /account/billing and use the Cancel Premium button. When Premium ends, Centiv switches you to Freemium and asks which one connected account you want to keep — we never silently disconnect a bank for you. See the step-by-step guides at /help/cancel-app-store, /help/cancel-google-play, or use /account/billing for web cancellation.
Can I move my subscription from the App Store / Google Play to Centiv Web for the lower price?
Yes. Cancel your in-app subscription in your device settings (the in-app subscription has to be set to stop renewing before the next charge). Then sign in on centiv.app and subscribe through /pricing. Our web checkout automatically delays the first web charge until your in-app subscription actually ends so you're never double-billed. The full walkthrough is at /help/switch-to-centiv-web.
Can I get a refund?
App Store purchases are governed by Apple's refund policy — request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Google Play purchases follow Google's refund policy — request a refund through the Google Play app or play.google.com. For web subscriptions, email support@centiv.app and we'll review on a case-by-case basis.
Do you offer a student discount?
Not yet, but it's on the roadmap. Sign up on Freemium and we'll notify you when it's available.
Features
What is Household Mode?
Household Mode (Premium) lets you share your financial picture with a partner. Set a Primary and Member. See shared spending, split goals, and get household-level insights — without losing individual privacy.
Does Centiv have voice control?
Yes — long-press the central ¢ tab and Coach Co-Pilot opens, letting you navigate Centiv and ask questions hands-free. Voice control is part of Premium; Freemium is text-only.
How does the daily Pulse work?
Every day Coach reviews your accounts, transactions, subscriptions, upcoming bills, and ¢Score, then writes a short, personalized summary — what changed, what to watch, what to celebrate. The tone follows your onboarding focus (your financial goal) and your current ¢Score band, so it feels like a thoughtful friend, never a lecture.
Can I change my financial focus later?
Yes. Open the Centiv app, go to Settings → Financial Focus, and re-take the 30-second wizard any time. Your previous answer is pre-filled so you can refine, not restart. Changing it instantly reshapes how every agent talks to you and what they prioritize.
Connecting your bank
How do I connect or disconnect a bank?
Open the Centiv app, go to Settings, and tap "Connected accounts". From there you can add new banks or remove existing ones.
What banks are supported?
Centiv connects to 10,000+ US financial institutions, including Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, Ally, and most credit unions. If your bank supports online banking, it almost certainly works.
My transactions are missing or wrong — what do I do?
Occasionally banks require you to reconnect. Open the Centiv app, go to Settings → Connected accounts, and refresh the connection. If the issue persists, email support@centiv.app and we'll help.
Security & privacy
What does the AI actually see about me?
The AI sees your money's behavior — bank-reported merchant names, amounts, dates, account types, balances — but never the personal identifiers that connect that activity to you specifically. Your name, email, phone, full account number, date of birth, and address are stripped out before any prompt reaches our AI partner. A CI test scans every prompt builder on every commit and fails the build if any of those fields appear, so the boundary stays enforced as the codebase grows. See the full breakdown at /security.
How is Centiv different from typing my finances into ChatGPT?
Three structural differences. (1) When you use a general AI chatbot, your account is tied to your name and email — Centiv strips identifiers before the AI ever sees your financial activity. (2) Centiv has a Data Processing Agreement with our AI provider that contractually forbids using your data to train public models; consumer AI products typically reserve broader rights and change defaults over time. (3) Centiv connects to your bank with a read-only scope — we cannot move money even by mistake. A general AI agent with banking integrations may have broader scopes. The full comparison is on /security.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. Centiv has a Data Processing Agreement with our AI provider that contractually prohibits using your data to train any public model. The no-training term is binding — not a setting that can change.
Can Centiv employees or the founder see my transactions?
By default, no — and you can verify it. The app, the advisors, and your ¢Score do their work entirely on the server, without anyone reviewing your transactions personally. Internal trends and product analytics use a separate dataset that strips your identity and only ever shows aggregates. The only times a Centiv employee opens an admin tool that reaches your account are: a support session you explicitly granted access to, an issue you reported and asked us to investigate, a security flag on your account, or a formal legal request. Every one of those events is logged with a reason — and every event is visible to you in the app at Settings → Privacy → "Who’s accessed my data."
How do I see who at Centiv has accessed my data?
Open the Centiv app and go to Settings → Privacy → "Who’s accessed my data." You’ll see the last 90 days of admin reads — who looked, when, what category (support / diagnostic / security review / legal), and the reason. The default state for almost every user is empty: "No one at Centiv has looked at your data." If you ever want the full history beyond 90 days, write to privacy@centiv.app and we’ll send it.
Who else has access to my data besides Centiv?
Centiv runs on a small set of carefully vetted partners — each one sees a specific, narrow slice of data and only that slice. Identifiable user data (your name, email, full account number, date of birth, address) is never shared with our AI partner. Our complete list of subprocessors is maintained in the Privacy Policy at /privacy for regulatory and disclosure purposes; if a new partner that could see identifiable user data is ever added, every user is emailed in advance.
Is my financial data safe?
Yes. Centiv connects to your accounts through a trusted bank-link partner — your bank credentials never touch our servers. All data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit via TLS. We operate a Zero Trust architecture, your data is never sold or shared with advertisers, and the bank connection is read-only — Centiv structurally cannot move money. See /security for the full picture.
Does Centiv have two-factor authentication?
Yes — two-factor authentication is mandatory for every Centiv account, with no opt-out, the same posture you'd find at Chase, Wealthfront, or Coinbase. If you have Face ID or Touch ID enabled, the app uses biometrics as your second factor on every sign-in — fast and silent. If biometrics is off (or unavailable on your device), Centiv emails a 6-digit code to your sign-in address. Either way, you're re-verified at least every 30 days, and any sign-in on a brand-new device requires a fresh check.
What if I'm not getting my email sign-in code?
First check your spam folder — the code is sent from a Centiv noreply address and some providers route it there. If it still hasn't arrived after 60 seconds, request a new one from the verify screen. If the problem keeps happening, email support@centiv.app from the address on your account and we'll help.
How do I delete my account?
Open the Centiv app, go to Settings → scroll to the bottom → Delete Account. This permanently removes all your data. You can also email support@centiv.app to request deletion.
Why can't I sign in?
Make sure you're using the same email and sign-in method (Google or email/password) you used when you first created your account. If you've forgotten your password, use the "Forgot password" option on the sign-in screen.
